Darlene Duggins

Darlene Bird Duggins, 88, of Elmwood, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Carle Hospital in Peoria. Darlene was born November 21, 1934, in Yates City. She is the daughter of Norman “Wayne” Bird and Frances Fern Dalton. Darlene was a graduate of Yates City High School. She was married to James Noel Duggins on June 29, 1957. Together they had two sons who preceded her in death, Rocky Lee Duggins and Scotty D. Duggins. Darlene is survived by her

sister, Dianne Burgess of Yates City.

Darlene had her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught first grade in Orlando, FL, for 35 years. She enjoyed going out to eat at different restaurants and doing crafts.

Nothing gave Darlene more joy than making an impact on all young children’s lives she was able to teach. She will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Yates City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Douglas United Methodist Church.
