Deleta Hansmeyer

Deleta Hansmeyer, 51 of Canton, passed away at 3:48 AM on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on August 18, 1970 in Canton, a daughter of James and Sandy (Opper) VanHouten. She married the love of her life, Kevin Hansmeyer on October 24, 1992 in Farmington. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents, James (Sandy) VanHouten of Farmington; her best friend and daughter, Melissa Hansmeyer of Peoria; and two sisters, Dorraine (Kevin) McCullough of Frankfort; DeEtte VanHouten of Hanna City.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Darlene VanHouten.

Deleta graduated from Methodist School of Nursing, where she was the youngest in her class, and worked for Havana Healthcare, lasting working on June 10, 2022. She enjoyed reading, turtles, her three beloved dachshunds, dirt track racing at the Spoon River Speedway, and watching her daughter race, first go-karts then later in the late model class. But most of all was being with her loving family.

Per Deleta’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory. A celebration of life will be on Sunday, July 3, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Canton Elks Lodge. Per family request please wear your favorite racing attire.
