Cuba- Matthew A. Shaw passed away at Graham Hospital in Canton, Illinois on Wednesday, January 24, 2019 at 3:45 a.m. Matt married Teresa A. Stoneking in September 1991 in Cuba, IL She survives. Matt was born on August 2, 1958 in Canton IL to Richard and Nancy (Stockham) Shaw. His mother Nancy Lafary of Cuba, survives. Also surviving are a son Barry N. (Marla Coulter) Stoneking of Cuba, sisters Cindy Stumph of Sycamore IL and Sally Shields of Canton, several nephews and nieces. Matt was preceded in death by his father, Richard and his step-father, Claire “Bud” Lafary, as well as a step-brother.
Matt was employed by Gavilon of Pekin Illinois. Matt enjoyed life with his family and friends and had a passion for carving and fishing. He was a devout Cubs fan and a member of the Cuba Christian Church.
Per Matt’s wishes there will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cass-Putman Rescue Squad.
