Marvin L. White
Ellisville – Marvin L. White, 84, of rural Ellisville, passed away at 12:45 AM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born on August 2, 1934 in Ellisville, to Myron and Florence (White) White. He married Eva Lou Shields on June 6, 1954 in Cuba, IL, she survives.
Also surviving are five children, Victoria (Tim Walker) Harper of Vermont, IL, Michael (Roberta) White of Cuba, IL, Christina (Mark) Werland of Smithfield, Cynthia (Jon) La Salle of Canton, IL, and Bruce White of Ellisville; one brother, Myron Jack White of Canton, IL; seven grandchildren, Eric, Christopher, Marcus, Martin, Marlana, Misty, and C.R.; eight great-grandchildren; Kasi, Kandace, Austin, Andrew, Clayton, Casey, Colton, and Maci; and several nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Marvin graduated from Spoon River Valley as Valedictorian of the Class of 1952. He won an FFA Award as an Illinois State Farmer in 1952. He attended Boys State in 1951. He was active in sports all through high school, and Student Council President his senior year. He also attended Franklin Grade School and Western Illinois University.
Marvin lived his entire life on the family farm where he was born. His true passion in life was farming with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Marvin also worked at the International Harvester Plant in Canton for 30 years, beginning in the Foundry, later running board hammers and steam hammers. He finished his final year at the Urbana, Ohio Plant, retired in 1985.
Per Marvin’s Wishes, there will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. A celebration of life may be held at a later date. To make online condolences you may go to www.sedgwickfuneralhomes.com
