Norris – Greg “Happy” Gilmore, 55, of Norris, passed away at 4:36 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born on September 26, 1963 in Canton to Roy Leon “Gilly” Gilmore and Joan Marie Wade. He married his true companion and love of his life, Melinda “Mindy” (Deckard) Gilmore on February 17, 2018 on the beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, she survives.
Also surviving is his father and his wife, Roy Leon “Gilly” (Deb) Gilmore; five children, Michael Gilmore of Canton, Kaylin (Cameron) Kibler of Newman, IL, Matt McDuffie of Bloomington, Casey (Brandon) Schraeder of Chillicothe, and Joseph “Joey” Clark of Canton; five grandchildren; two brothers, David (Rita) Gilmore of Macomb and Jim (Becky) Gilmore of Canton; three sisters, Nancy (Mitch) Gilmore of Canton, Tina (J.T.) Gilmore of Erie, IL, and Kandi (Ted) Kumer of St. David, IL; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Tammy (Jason) Dahm, the entire Anderson Family, the entire Delost Family, Ralph Sedgwick, Erol Brewer, Dee (the late Delbert) Snider, and Buckwheat; and his beloved horse, Picasso.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Marie Wade.
Greg worked as a farmer his entire life but was truly a jack of all trades. He loved race car driving, side by siding, snowmobiling, horseback riding, boating, and anything outdoors. Greg always had a need for speed and had a true passion for helping others. Greg truly enjoyed life and loved all of his family and friends but he especially loved planning a yearly vacation and spending as much time as possible with the love of his life Mindy.
A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. A celebration of life will start at 5 PM following the visitation at the Brew-N-Cue in Canton, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.
