Helen M. Bubb
Helen M. Bubb, 91, of Ipava, passed away at 8:20 am on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Clayberg Fulton County Nursing Center in Cuba. She was born on August 11, 1925 in Astoria, the daughter of Ross and Stella (White) Hulvey. Helen married Robert E. Bubb on August 15, 1948 in Table Grove. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2002.
Surviving are her 2 sons, Edwin (and Lynn) Bubb of Quincy and Stanley (and Jayme) Bubb of Macomb, 3 daughters, Margo Bubb of Ipava, Emily (and Mike) Hollenback of Ipava and Annette (and David) Hull of Mason City, 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Bubb, Jennifer (and Brian) Roberts, Carrie Bubb, Kirsten Hollenback, Devin (and Becky) Buswell, Jordyn (and Sebastian) Benzi, and Dylan Hull, 2 great-grandchildren, Alana Foose and Sydney Buswell, sister, Dorothy Weaver of Lafayette, IN and 3 brothers, Dean Hulvey of Mt. Sterling, Robert (and Jeanett) Hulvey of Canton and Michael (and Shirley) Hulvey of Maryville.
She is preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lucille Hamilton, Wilma Long, and Julia Goodwin and 2 brothers, Ross Hulvey, Jr. and Marshall Hulvey.
Helen was a civilian worker at Camp Ellis and Camp Grant during WW II. She was the Office Manager for the University of Illinois Extension office in Lewistown, IL, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the Ipava Christian Church where she served as Church Clerk, Deaconness, served on the church board, and was an Elder. She was a member of the Fulton County HEA. Helen was an artist, painting pictures and china. She enjoyed crafts, playing the piano, and spending time with her family, attending their activities and vacation time. She was also scorekeeper for Bob’s Ball Buster softball team.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Brant Reed will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, October 10th at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery in Ipava. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Christian Church or the Clayberg Fulton County Nursing Center.
