William B. Davenport, 89, of Havana passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Havana Healthcare Center in Havana. He was born on September 26, 1934 in Palmyra, Illinois to Dean and Virginia (Bugenhagen) Davenport. He married June Weaver on June 14, 1953 in Havana and she preceded him in death on March 17, 2023.William is survived by his son, Anthony “Tony” Davenport, of Havana; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Steve) Davenport-Fornoff, of Havana; as well as four grandchildren: Kyle (Katie) Davenport, Travis (Rachel) Davenport, Ty Fornoff and Will Davenport; and great-grandchildren, Myles, Klay, Kyler, and Oliver; brother, Richard Davenport of Parrish, Florida; special niece, Lisa Dietsch, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons, Thomas and Timothy Davenport, and brother, Robert Davenport.
William was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Havana. He served in the Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He ran Illi-Go Gas Station for many years, and also owned cigarette vending machines and worked in trailer sales and also owned Midwest Palette.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Havana, with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., also at the church. Fr. Dante Anglin will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in William’s name to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church or the Shriner’s Hospital. Online condolences can be left for his family at www.hurleyfh.com.
