Kami was born in Macomb, IL to Larry and Toni (Orwig) Strode of Fairview IL.
She is survived by her parents, her husband Darin Sharkey of New London, MO, her daughter Melinda (David) Engel and their children, Kami's beloved grandchildren, Scarlett and Sebastian of Hannibal, Missouri, her son Derek (Beth) Hahn of Palmyra, Missouri, her brother Cory Strode and his son Michael C (Darcy) Strode of Minnesota, her sisters, Kimberly (Curt) Linderman of Center, Missouri and their children CJ, Destini, Kassidy and her children Grayson and Juliet, and Kaden Linderman, and Kristin (Michael) Aigner and their daughter Elizabeth of Dahinda, Illnios.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her brother Christopher Strode and her son Gregory Hahn.
Kami was a teenage mother with fierce love for her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Kami was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria IL with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.
She was an owner of multiple businesses and a passionate advocate for SIDS research.
She loved quilting, canning her garden vegetables and was a huge history buff.
Recently, she had been a substitute teacher in multiple counties in her area and loved encouraging her students to unplug and use their imaginative skills through interactive play that she remembered from simpler times.
Kami believed in family first, love of God and Country, and supported veterans and those with disabilities.
She was always there to support those in need.
A celebration of life will be planned for Springtime. Memorials may be made in honor of Kami and her son Gregory to the American SIDS Institute at sids.org.
