Rodney Lee Bricker, 82, passed away peacefully at Renaissance Care Center in Canton, IL, the morning of July 24, 2022. He was born on February 3, 1940 in the Astoria, IL, the son of Harry “Raymond” and Viola (Hickman) Bricker. Rodney was the beloved husband to Carolyn Sue (Bucher) Bricker. She survives.
Rodney and Carolyn were married on April 11, 1959. They lived in Colorado for many years where they raised three children and owned a TV and appliance business. They returned to the Bricker family farm near Summum, IL for several years before returning to Colorado. Rodney and Carolyn moved to Wyoming before finally retiring to Fulton County to be close to family.
Rodney leaves behind his three children, Renee (and Richard) Dotson of Bayfield, CO, Rhonda (and Richard) DeJournett of Indianapolis, IN, and Jason (and Belynda) of Mitchell, NE. He was a proud grandfather to Stuart (and Sonal Vyas) Dotson, Taylor (and Rachel) Dotson, Tom (and Christel) Dotson, Danae (and Jon White) DeJournett and Tre` DeJournett, and great-grandfather to Antony, Helena, Orson and Jules Dotson.
He is also survived by his brother Marion (and Minhua) Bricker of Boulder, CO, and 2 sisters, Lois (and Joe) Palmer of Vermont, IL, and Cheryl (and Harry) Bricker Press. He is preceded in death by his infant brother, Jerry Bricker.
Rodney and Carolyn were members of the Canton Church of the Brethren. Rodney, along with Carolyn, were avid supporters of the VA and loved to square dance while they lived in Wyoming. Rodney also loved camping and four wheeling in the mountains, muscle cars and farming. Rodney was considered a Jack-of-all-trades and loved spending time with his family. He was a very devoted grandfather.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Canton Church of the Brethren. Pastor Kevin Kessler will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Woodland Church of the Brethren or the Canton Church of the Brethren.
