John A. "Jack" Rozene


Highland - Jack Rozene, 89, of Highland, passed away at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at CedarHurst Memory Care in Highland. He was born on April 12, 1933 in Shelbyville to Donald L. and Mildred (Lovins) Rozene.

Jack married Sharon Sloan on January 13, 1962 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2008, along with his parents.
Surviving are two children; Colleen (Scott) Becker of St. Jacob and Tal (Tina) Rozene of Effingham, four grandchildren; Brittany, Jennifer, Ethan and Ada and two great-grandchildren; Matthew and Ellie.
Jack retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1996 after working for 30 years as an electrical/mechanical engineer. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Jack was a member and officer of the Troy VFW Post #976. His hobbies include woodworking, fishing, golfing and deer hunting with his wife. Jack was an avid Illini and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was also a member and past President of the Brimfield School Booster Club and supporter of Brimfield HS FFA and Jubilee Patriots 4-H club and coached his son's summer baseball team.
Services will be 2 pm, Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood where visitation will be 1 hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Brimfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either American Stroke Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
