Jerold E. Ellis

Canton- Jerold “Jerry” E. Ellis, 77, of Canton, passed away at 9:45 AM on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his residence. He was born on December 27, 1944, a son of Charles F. and Eloise (Barker) Ellis. He married Carol (Mahr) Foulk on April 30, 2017 in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Jeffery E. Ellis, and Bryan M. Ellis, both of Urbana, Ohio; Scott Ellis of Peoria; three step-sons, Donald (Marla) Foulk, and Ronald (Malisa) Foulk, both of Canton; Terry Towery of Peoria; two step-daughters Cindy (Donald) Whetstine of Urbana, Ohio, and Sue Taffer of Canton; two grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren, and his sister Janice M. Link of McHenry, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three step-grandchildren, and his sister Joyce Ellis.

Jerry was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving time in the Air Force during 1965. He then worked as a Lineman for Spoon River Electric for many years before retiring. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and also the Elks Lodge, both in Canton.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory. A Private Graveside Service will take place at Walnut Cemetery with Rev. Shalom Renner officiating.
