James "Jim" R. Sluga

James "Jim" R. Sluga 87, of Yates City, passed away 2:57 p.m., on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton. Jim was born July 26, 1934, to Hilar William "Bill" and Ida (Elbert) Sluga in Peoria. He married Norma Spencer on July 30, 1955, in Metamora. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2012.

Jim is survived by two children, Jim D. (Melody) Sluga of Elmwood and Kim (Steve) Frakes of Missouri; two grandchildren, Doug Sluga and Christina Frakes; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Ava, and Sophia Shay; and two brothers, Harland (Irene) Sluga and Myron (Delores) Sluga.
Jim is also preceded in death by his parents; and two granddaughters, Melissa Frakes and Amanda Sluga Shay.
Jim worked as a Storage Controller at Caterpillar where he retired from on July 1, 1983. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elmwood.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. Burial will follow on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Yates City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to B.Y.E. Ambulance.
