Also surviving is his life-long companion, Karen Lee; eight children, James (Patience) Carroll, Anthony (Emily) Carroll, Christine (Randy) Malott, Amanda Rae (Danny) Vance, Joshua Wayne (Morgan) Carroll, Makayla (Dustin) Carroll, Angel Carroll, and Annetta Carroll; 22 grandchildren, one great-grandson, Matthew Carroll; two brothers, Ben (John) Carroll and Bobby (Jo) Carroll; and one sister, Penny (Leroy) Cremeens.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester and Mingo Carroll; and one sister; Tina (Mike)Laufenberg.
James loved working on farms and being outdoors. He enjoyed wood and metal working. He also loved riding horses and being around his dogs. James was a member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Manito, IL. He also served in the United States Army.
A Celebration of Life and burial at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, IL will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.
