Farmington – Kathryn Margaret Mary Porter, 89, of Farmington, passed away at 1:50 PM on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. She was born on March 21, 1927 in Farmington to Gerald and Elizabeth (Hammersbach) Bales. She married James R. Porter on August 1, 1948 in Farmington. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death are her parents and one brother, Pat Bales.
Surviving are six children; Terri Psinas, Diane Gilstrap, John Porter, Jerold Porter, Jamie Leeper, and Donna Nelson; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Miner.
Kathryn was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church and the Eastern Stars in Farmington. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting that many families, clubs, and Charity’s received her items.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM. Her nephew David Stookey will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Oakridge Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials can be made to Farmington United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
