Henderson, 79, of Canton passed away at 5:15 pm Thursday, May 6, 2016 at her residence.  She was born on June 27, 1936 in Moline, IL. to James and Madiline (Crum) Spencer.  Ann married Gerald T. “Jerry” Henderson on January 1, 1953 in Canton.  He preceded her in death on May 20, 2011.  Also preceding in death were her parents, two brothers; James Spencer and Micheal Spencer, and a sister Elizabeth Spencer.
Surviving is five sons; G. Lon (Nancy) Henderson of Danville, IL, Steven A. Henderson of West Peoria, IL, John S. (Jodi) Henderson of Reno, NV, Robert A. (Melissa) Henderson of Lincoln, IL, and Jeff O. (Julie) Henderson of Elgin, IL, two brothers; Phillip Crum of Macomb and Richard T. Spencer of Arizona, ten grandchildren; Nathan, Erick, Kirk, Spencer, Hunter, Burgandy, Joshua, Lauren, Jacob and Chloe, and two great-grandchildren; Nichalos and Taylor.
Ann worked at Canton School District #66 as an Early Childhood Aide.  She was a member of the Canton Republican Women, Whirlwinds’ Investment Club, 23 year volunteer for the Graham Hospital Service League, attended Wesley United Methodist Church and was involved in Stephen’s Ministry.
Ann's legacy of love was her family. Her sons and daughter-in-laws were deeply loved and always in her thoughts and her grandchildren never left her heart. They were her greatest treasure. Although she deeply missed her husband Jerry, she put all of her energies into her passion of helping others. After a career as a Teacher's Aide in Early Childhood, she was active in her church, the Graham Hospital Auxiliary, and in numerous helping agencies.  In this way, she made many deep friendships that provided her much joy. Her friends will say that she was a true friend and always willing to listen without judgment.
Ann was gentle, caring, and truly loved to give. This was seen in the family dinners that she prepared, the sewing (hundreds of Boy Scout badges) that she did, the prayers that she prayed and her daily life that was led by the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".  Her favorite bible verse was the Twenty-Third Psalm. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Services will be 11:00 am Friday, May 13 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. Robert A. Henderson and Rev. Larry Frank officiating.  Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Burial of ashes will follow the services.  Memorials can be made to either Graham Hospital Service League or Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund.  To view Ann’s DVD or to leave online condolences, please visit www.oakshinesfuneralhome.com
