He was born May 14, 1942 at Canton, the son of James and Doris (Bell) Murphy. He married Carol Jane Hughes on April 27, 1962 at Lewistown. She survives with two children, Alan Ray (Sandy) Murphy of Milwaukee, WI; and Veanna (Aaron) Thum of Canton, six grandchildren, Harrison (Leah) Murphy, Britt-Marie (Ben) Uhen, Emma-Lisa (Fiancé Dr. Brad Foulke) Murphy, Dr. Alyssa (Zach) Crawford, Jessica (Jake) Jones, and Dr. Aaron James Thum, three great grandchildren, Quinn Jones, Chloe Crawford, and Baby Boy Jones due February 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Carol Girard.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of Cuba High School. He farmed for many years in the Cuba area before retiring. He was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church and Shields Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Cuba Lions Club, and Fulton County Farm Bureau. He served on the Cuba High School Board, and the Putman Township Board. He was a 4-H Leader of the Big 10 and was the director of the Sunrise Showmanship at the Fulton County Fair. He received the gift of life after receiving a lung transplant in May 2003.
Bob’s funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday November 18, 2023 at the Cuba United Methodist Church with Pastor Andy Hoskins officiating. Visitation will be held Friday November 17, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cuba United Methodist Church or Shields Chapel United Methodist Church.
