Diane graduated from Limestone High School in 1961. She retired from Caterpillar, but previously worked at Ozark for twenty years where she made numerous lifelong friends. During her time at Ozark, she was able to travel the world. One of her most memorable trips was through the Amazon River Valley to the lost city of the Incas.
Diane was a devout Christian who knew almost every hymn by heart. In her younger years, she loved to dance and loved music. She shared her love of music with her grandson, Colten; they enjoyed listening to Elvis and Johnny Cash.
Diane was an avid horse enthusiast, traveling the country on many trail rides. When she married Kenny, they continued their love of horses by breeding and raising Appaloosas. In her later years, she enjoyed the unique companionship of her rescued mules. She enjoyed sitting outside watching them and feeding them treats. Her love of rescue, however, did not start there. Diane was known in the community for her rescue efforts with dogs throughout her time in Elmwood and imparted her love of animals to her daughters.
Cremation rights have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Yates City Community Center. Desserts and fellowship will follow the service until 5:00 p.m. Desserts provided, as Diane’s catchphrase was “Life is a little uncertain, eat dessert first”. Memorials may be made to All Herding Breed Dog Rescue of Illinois or The Ark in Lacon, IL.
