James “Big Jim” Clifford Burgett Sr., 67, of Havana passed away at Mason District Hospital in Havana at 5:58 a.m. on Saturday November 4, 2023. He was born on November 30, 1955 to Robert Dean Burgett and Donna Herring Burgett. James married Annette Yackley Burgett on January 27, 1991 at Bath, IL.
James is survived by his wife, Annette Burgett of Havana; his children, James Clifford Burgett Jr. of Bath and Samantha Burgett of Havana; his grandson, Memphis Burgett of Havana; numerous “adopted” children and grandchildren; his siblings, Robert Henry (Teri) Burgett of Cuba, Chrissy (Dave) Sayers of Browning, Robin Beard of Forest City, Paula Gilpin of Bath, Amy (Buddy) Dobson of Havana, and Becky (Terry) Black of Liverpool; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Alberta Burgett and his siblings, Robert Arlan Burgett, Cathy Sinclair, Melissa Goforth, June Cohee, Randy Burgett and Brenda Burgett-Ray.
James loved his family, and he loved spending time with them. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren were his world.
A graveside service for Big Jim will be held at Snicarte Cemetery in Snicarte, Illinois on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. A one hour visitation will take place before his graveside service from 1:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Becky Black will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with his final expenses.
