Julia M. Stewart, 88, of Decatur, formerly of Havana and Interlachen, Florida, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Decatur, at 8:38 p.m., on Thursday, October 26, 2023. She was born May 9, 1935, in Williamsville, Illinois, to George Orin and Margaret Frances (Fay) Ball. She married Bob Janssen and he preceded her in death. She later married William Harvey Stewart, in June of 1984. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2009.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by two sons: George Lercher of Plainfield, Illinois, and Douglas Lercher, of Decatur, Illinois; twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers: Lawrence “Larry” (Phyllis) Ball, of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, and Kirby (Coreen) Ball, of Chatham, Illinois; and two sisters: Sandra Mason, of Conroe, Texas, and Roberta (Jay) Termine, of Pleasant Plains, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son - John Alan Lercher, and one sister - Joan Bridgewater.
Mrs. Stewart attended church at 1st Church of God in Flora Home, Florida. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed crocheting and charity work. She was very involved in doing good deeds for others.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 2 p.m., at Hurley Funeral Home, in Havana. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery, in Havana. Minister Casey McCormick will officiate.
