He was born on July 8, 1945 in Canton to Joseph and Gladys (Williams) Stockov.
He married Marla Burkhead on May 3, 1996 in Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Mark (Renee) Stockov of Canton, Joe (Alisa) Stockov of Claremont, N.C., Matthew (Andrea Mongoven) Stockov of Skokie, Michael (Desiree) Stockov of Appleton, WI, one brother Tom (Cindy) Stockov of Canton and five grandchildren, Jake, Luke, Nolan, Tristan and Margot.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Stockov.
Jim retired from Navistar in 2002. He was a classic car enthusiast and was very proud of his 1962 Ford Galaxie restoration project. He enjoyed all types of racing including motorcycle, NASCAR and drag racing. In his younger years he raced motorcycles across the country, including Daytona, and later raced stock cars at Spoon River Speedway.
Most of all he was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton with a funeral to follow on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10 am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to WTVP Public Television in Peoria or the American Cancer Society.
