Ramona C. Stracker, 94, of Table Grove, IL, passed away 12:07 am on Monday, November 6, 2023 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL. She was born on Monday, March 11, 1929 in Table Grove, the daughter of Charles Sr. and Gladys (Fordyce) Howard. Ramona first married Leroy Malott in Table Grove. She later married Dwight Stracker on March 17, 1965 in Las Vegas, NV. Both preceded her in death.
Also preceding Ramona in death is her sister, Norma Mounts and 2 brothers, Charles Howard Jr. and Donald Lee Howard.
Survivors include her two daughters, Debbie (and Bob) Carithers of Table Grove and Annette (and Russell) Hamm of Macomb, IL, six grandchildren, Liza (and Joe) Dutton, Nicole Carithers, Alexandria (and Justin) Messer, Paris (and Brittany) Salazar-Hamm, Britain Hamm, and Rome (and Rodrigo Estrada) Hamm, and three great-grandchildren, Alaina, Ella, and Charlee Dutton.
Ramona was valedictorian of her graduating class from Table Grove High School. She went on to work at numerous places in her lifetime. She was head of the payroll department at Macomb Products Factory, worked for the National Guard in the accounting department at Camp Ellis, and worked at Collins Locker Plant in Table Grove. She also worked at the Table Grove Post Office for 33 years where she started as a clerk and retired as Post Master.
She was a member of the Table Grove Community Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Ramona enjoyed crocheting, crafts and reading. She loved to talk and would say that she never had met a stranger. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Her time with her great-grandchildren kept her going the last several years.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Table Grove Community Church in Table Grove. Pastor Tim Lindsey will be officiating with Pastor Rick Weiss assisting in the service. A visitation will take place one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Community Church, MDH Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
