Robert E. Atwater

Robert “Bob” E. Atwater, 81, of Lewistown passed away October 31, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born March 8, 1942 at Ipava the son of Harley and Margaret (Ashton) Atwater. He married Karen S. Lasswell on October 26, 1963 at Lewistown. She survives along with three children, Steve Atwater of Lewistown, Becky Coleman of Lewistown, and Billy (Vicki) Atwater of Cuba, one brother, Jerry Atwater of Ipava, one sister, Marilee Casper of Canton, and sister-in-law, Sally Atwater of Ipava. six grandchildren, Rachel (Dereck) Hardisty, Alyssa (Brandon) Cox, Nicholas Jensen, Robert (Terra) Jensen, Abigail Atwater, and Brady Atwater, four great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, Becky (Teejay) Peterson, Jessica (David) English, and Jayson (Amber) Waughtel, and nine step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, David Coleman, three brothers, Terry, Billy, and Arlan Atwater and one sister, Martha Bloyd.

Bob worked at Caterpillar, retiring after thirty-two years. He was also a house painter for many years. He was a member of UAW Local 974.

Cremation will be accorded. The family will plan a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Point Hospice, 762 E. Chestnut St. Canton, IL 61520.
