Mildred I. McDermet, 95, Of Knoxville, formerly of Yates City, passed away at 2:55 a.m., on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. She was born June 22, 1926, to Charles and Bessie (Kilburn) Oyler, in Fairfield, Iowa. She married Gerald McDermet on November 12, 1949, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1984.
Surviving are two children, David McDermet (Patty) of Beech Grove, AR, and Danny McDermet (Sherri) of Custer, SD; one brother, Clarence (Christine) Oyler; one sister, Barbara (the late Paul) Bernhart; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Charles Jr. Oyler and Cecil Oyler.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Elmwood, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Yates City Cemetery.
