Farmington – Cynthia “Cindy” Sue Duley of Farmington, passed away peacefully at home at 3:28 PM on October 23, 2021 after courageously battling cancer for nearly 9 years. She was born on September 10, 1949 in Peoria to Richard “Dick” and Helen (Collins) Westerby. She married Robert Duley on March 20, 1971. Her preceded her in death in 2009.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, and one brother, Jimmy Westerby.
She is survived by her mother, four sisters, Kelly Westerby of Peoria, Joanna Shearer of Lincoln, Stacey (Ken) Strange of East Peoria, and Andrea (Brett) Craft of Pekin; son, Craig (Tammy) Duley of Maquon; daughter, Shannon Duley of San Diego, CA; and four grandchildren, Gracie, Ellie, Landry, and Iselle.
Cindy touched the lives of many others through her work as a kindergarten teacher at Yates City and Farmington elementary schools. She loved teaching and spending time with close friends and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching sports, traveling with Shannon, and living on the farm, especially in the fall.
In respecting her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral. Thank you to Cancer Care and to Unity Point Hospice. Cremation rites will be accorded with Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington. Memorials may be made to the Farmers Closet in Farmington, Illinois Cancer Care Foundation, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
