She was born July 14, 1942 in Canton the daughter of Ray and Leona (Rowe) Lasswell. She married John R. DeFord on September 29, 1962 at Lewistown. He survives along with two sons, Scott (Sandi) DeFord of Lewistown and Brad DeFord of Lewistown, two sisters, Beverly (Vern) Liddle of Canton, and Karen (Bob) Atwater of Lewistown, five grandchildren, Ericka (Jake) Waterman of Golden, CO; Harley DeFord of Havana, Karley (Frank) Prytherch of Dawson, Michael Hibser of Lewistown, and Jonathan DeFord of Lewistown. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Janice had worked at the former Day & Palin IGA of Lewistown, and the former Lewistown True Value. She then worked as a cook at the Lewistown Community High School. Janice was a member of the Illinois Street Christian Church of Lewistown, the Red Hat Society, and T.O.P.S. club. Janice enjoyed her flower gardens and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and cooking.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor Brant Reed officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Street Christian Church. Online condolences may be made at henrylange.com.
