Raymond Studer
Canton – Raymond “Ray” L. Studer, 87, of Canton, passed away at 9:30 am, Tuesday March 13, 2018 in Brownwood Texas.
He was born on October 19, 1930 in Canton to Ernest and Edith (Miller) Studer. He was raised on a small farm in rural Glasford by Alta and Don Studer.
Raymond married Phylis M. (Whyte) on September 11, 1954, in Lena, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving a son, Blaine (Glenda) Studer of Glasford and a daughter Denice (Curtis) Rogers of Coleman County Texas, three grandchildren, Michelle, Donna and Jordon, six step grandchildren Grant, Gabriel, Holly, Blake, Stephen and Scott and several great – grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Miles Studer, one brother Ernest Studer, one sister Edith Studer and Alta and Don Studer.
Raymond worked as a welder for Caterpillar for 42 years retiring in 1981, after retirement he enjoyed farming.
Raymond served active duty in the United States Navy on USS LST-1081 Pima County from 1951 until 1955 and remained in the reserves until 1990. He was a lifetime member of the Canton American Legion #16, UAW #974 and he was part of the USS LST 325 Historical Floating Museum.
A funeral service will be held on Monday March 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton where visitation will be held on Sunday March 18, 2018 from 1 until 3 p.m.
Burial with Military Honors from the Canton VFW will be held at Brunswick Cemetery in rural Canton.
