James H. Knight

Hanna City – James H. Knight, 82, of Hanna City, passed away at 11:25 AM on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Unity Point Health Methodist. He was born on November 2, 1935 in Johnson City in Southern, IL to Hiley and Iva (Hard) Knight. He married Shirley Holmes on January 2, 1955 in Peoria, IL, they were married for 63 years. She survives.

Also surviving are five children, Teresa (Steven) Crawford, Tammy (Randy) Conlee, James (Debbie) Knight Jr., Catherine (Patrick) Maloney, and Michael (Raquel) Knight; fifteen grandchildren, Eddie Wood, Sara Linn, Jill Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Erika Cross, Matt Knight, Megan Maloney, Daniel Maloney, Aaron Knight, Melissa Knight, Caitlin Knight, Michael McDannald, Caleb Knight, Rachael Knight, and Joshua Knight; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny (Kathy) Knight and Ron (Beverly) Knight; two sisters, Glenda (Merton) Campell and Janice (Mike) Mahan; and one sister-n-law, Ina Knight.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Loren Knight.

James worked as a project engineer at Caterpillar in Mossville, IL for 40 years. He was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Peoria, IL and also the National Racing Pigeon Association. James and his wife traveled all over and raised coon dogs. He was also an ordained minister.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 5125 W Farmington Rd, Peoria, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM at the church. Rev. Greg Drake will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Cottonwood Cemetery in rural Hanna City, IL. Memorials can be made to Calvary Temple Assembly of God.
