Edward Glad Sr.
Canton-Edward Glad Sr., 90, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Farmington Country Manor in Farmington.
He was born on January 24, 1928 in St David to Philip and Mary (Kausek) Glad. They preceded him in death.
He married Eleanor M. Horton on August 27, 1949 in Canton. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1999.
Surviving are his children, Edward (Connie) Glad Jr. of Canton, Mary Jo (Michael) Eskridge of Canton, Susan (Larry) Rumler of Canton, Michelle Trone of Canton, eleven grandchildren, Edward (Mona) Glad III, Amanda Atwater, Jacob Glad, Marissa Torrison, Emily (Nathan) Eskridge-June, Caitlin (Zack) Borton, Cory (Carrie) Ashley, Zachary (Kim) Ashley, Trista Trone, Rachael Trone, Dynae Trone and fourteen great grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death are six brothers, Frank, Joe, John, Phil, Bill and Rudy and four sisters, Mary, Molly, Katherine and Vickie.
Edward served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Canton American Legion, Canton VFW and a past member of the Moose. He enjoyed fishing and baseball but especially the Chicago Cubs.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a visitation starting at noon.
Burial with military honors will immediately follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
