Mary Baldwin
Canton – Mary Baldwin, 89, of Canton, met her heavenly father when she passed peacefully in her sleep on December 30, 2016, in her home at the Courtyard Estates of Canton.
She was born September 3, 1927, in Gibson City, IL to Bertha L. (Hunt) and John Mickens.
She married Russell E. Baldwin in Havana, IL on September 3, 1951. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1999. Also preceding her in death was her six sisters, two brothers, her son and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Lu Baldwin Stevens of Canton, two sons, Robert (Christine) Baldwin of Indianapolis, IN, Joseph (Shirley) Baldwin of Roanoke TX., ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mary loved the Lord and took every opportunity to tell her faith and Gods love. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Fulton County Singers. Her experiences in mission work began when she and Russ moved to the Philippines in 1968. Upon returning to the US she continued to support the Missionaries work with her financial contributions. Mary was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton. She looked forward every week to church services at the Courtyard Estates as it became difficult for her to attend regular church services. Mary was dearly loved by all who knew her. She has been an inspiration to her family and friends and always had a song for you.
There will be no Services.
Mary was a 40 year survivor of breast cancer. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Burial will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery.
