Don L. Watson, 78, of Astoria, passed away at 4:25 am on Sunday, January
8, 2017 at the Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born on
September 24, 1938 in Havana, the son of Alfred and Marjorie (Lynch)
Watson. Don married Carolyn Rose on April 5, 1959 in Astoria. She
preceded him in death on April 27, 2006.
Also preceding him in death are his 2 daughters, Janell Kay and Marcella
Jean Watson, brother Jim Watson and his sister, Evelyn Moore.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Donnie (and Becky) Watson of Table Grove
and Todd (and Sara) Watson of Browning, daughter, Melissa (and Chris)
Shaw of Astoria, 9 Grandchildren, Brooke Kendrick, Grant (and Jessica
Ippenson) Watson, Dylan (and Bhrea) Watson, Brian Watson, Preston
Watson, Kenley Watson, Jacob (and Emma) Shaw, Jared Shaw and Jonah Shaw,
2 great-grandchildren, Taegan and Malachi Kendrick, 2 sisters, Doris
Rowe of Lewistown and Karen Boehl of Havana, 2 brothers, Kenny (and
Anita) Watson of Ohio and John Watson of Havana and his sister-in-law,
Anne Watson of Havana.
Don was the owner and operator of Curly’s Auto Repair in Astoria.
He was a member of the Astoria Christian Church and the Astoria Fire
& Rescue Squad, where he served as Chief and Chaplin. He also served
on the Astoria Township Board and Astoria Park District Board. Don
enjoyed to roller skate and even managed the Table Grove Roller Rink. He
also enjoyed cutting wood and spending time with his grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at
Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Matthew Thiner and Pastor Gary
Sheets will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment at the Astoria
Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to Toys for Tots or Astoria
Christian Church Youth Funds.
