Occupation: Employed by School District 186 of Springfield, IL.  He also worked at Simplex Engine Generator Control Systems, Motorola, ISBE, IDPH, Asbestos Professional Services in Breese, IL, the Environmental Institute of Marietta, GA, and served as a consultant to the USEPA in Washington, DC.  He also taught asbestos related courses both nationally and internationally.

Military:         United States Marine Corps and the United States Naval Reserve.

Memberships: Donald graduated from Ridgeley Grade School and Lanphier High School in Springfield.  He then earned his Bachelors of Science from Purdue University in 1959, his Masters from Sangamon State University (now UIS) in 1975, and his Doctorate from SIU Carbondale in 1984.  He served on the staff at Georgia tech in Atlanta, GA as an Adjunct Professor.

                               Don was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Springfield and had served on many boards and committees.  He was previously a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, ANSAR Shrine, was a 32^nd degree Mason, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Legion of Honor, and the Firefighter’s Club. He was also Chief of the Springfield Auxiliary Police Department when it was disbanded.

Visitation:     5-7 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2017at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL.  Additional visitation at the Central Baptist Church at a later date.

Interment:     Camp Butler national Cemetery, Springfield, IL

Memorials:   Donald and Judith Anderson Football Scholarship at Purdue University or

                        the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
