Rose M. Shawgo

Rose M. Shawgo, 81, of Lewistown, passed away on July 1, 2025 at her residence, surrounded by family. She was born on December 2, 1943 in Glasford to Vincent and Catherine (Fraune) Geier. Rose married Franklin Shawgo on December 7, 1963 in Canton. He survives along with their four children; Connie Shawgo of Lewistown, Gary (Mary) Shawgo of Lewistown, Kathey (Jeremy) Blemler of Lewistown and Lori Hrabusicky of Maryville, daughter-in-law Christy Shawgo of Lewistown, two sisters; Helen (Larry) McCloskey of Springfield, OH and Mary McCoy of Elmwood, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, son Billy Shawgo, three brothers and three sisters.

Rose worked for the U.S. Treasury Department, retiring in 2017. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. She was the former organist at St. Mary’s in Lewistown where she also taught catechism classes. Rose was a member of the Bishop Post #1 auxiliary. She was a homemaker for most of her life and family was the most important thing in her life.

Mass will be 11 am Saturday, July 5, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton where a visitation will be 1 hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. There will be luncheon at VFW in Lewistown starting at 1:30 pm on Saturday following the service. Memorials can be made to Lewistown St. Jude Runners.
