She was born October 30, 1946 at rural Astoria the daughter of Charles D. and Helen A. (Pigg) Martindale. She married Dennis L. Mason on June 5, 1964 at Smithfield and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1983. She later married Sheldon Roberts on December 20, 2015 at Lewistown. He survives with four children, Karla Hall of Smithfield, Kelly (Martin) Izard of Vine Grove, KY; Teresa Roberts of New London, IA; and Joseph Roberts of Canton, seven grandchildren, Dannielle Embry, Bailey Izard, Katelyn (Jon) Webb, Libby Hopkins, Jaylee Hopkins, Randy Williams, and Emily Williams, seven great grandchildren, Peyton Izard, Easton Webb, Cameron Webb, Mason Webb, Levie Cooley, Amethyst Williams, and Zaki Williams, one brother, Jamie (Jody) Martindale, two sisters, Tracy Dollins of Maine, and Donna (Tom) Wilson of Georgia, one sister in law, Verda Roberts of Farmington. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles Greg Martindale and Michael David Martindale.
Marie was a registered nurse where she had worked at McDonough District Hospital and later retired from the Fulton County Health Department. She had also been a school bus driver for Cuba School District, and had also worked as a hair stylist. She was a 1964 recipient of the Betty Crocker Award. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and traveling. Most of all she was a loving and supporting wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Cremation will be accorded and a visitation will be held Friday September 20, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. A private family graveside service and interment of ashes will be held at Baughman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Smithfield Fire Department.
