JR Hoffman

 JR Hoffman, 61, of Canton, passed away at 10:55 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at his residence. He was born on December 4, 1962 in Canton, a son of James and Shirley (Forbis) Hoffman. He married Patty Hallmark on May 24, 1986 in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, James Hoffman of Crown Point, Indiana; Michael (Amanda) Hoffman of Canton; Ethan (Payton) Hoffman of Crystal Lake; Alize’ Hoffman of Canton; Oliver Hoffman of Macomb; Latrisha Diephuis, Karlee and Hunter Hoffman, all of Canton; five grandchildren, Seth, Illiyana, Zackary, Brielle, and Easton; brother, Chris (Late Julie) Hoffman of Columbus, Indiana; four nieces, Kourtney Hoffman, Taylor (Cody) Johanningsmeier, Shelby (Cameron) Baker, and Kaitlyn Edwards; nephew, Hunter Hoffman, and one brother-in-law, Darrin (Amy) Edwards of Fairview.

Preceding JR in death were his parents, and brother-in-law, Darrell Edwards.

JR worked and retired from Hy-Vee Food Store in Canton as a retail manager after several years of service. He was a faithful member of Lakeland Community Church of Canton. JR was an avid gardener, and collector of many items, but most of all, was the love he had for his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, where a memorial visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials can be made to an education fund for his children in care of Wells Fargo Bank or to Lakeland Community Church.
