Robert “Bobby” Eugene Blickenstaff, of Astoria, went peacefully home to be with Jesus while surrounded by his wife and family at 10:20 am on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at his home. He was born on December 15, 1965 to Elma Darlene Cassel and Robert “Bob” Blickenstaff. He was raised by his parents Gary and Darlene Baker. He was a 1984 graduate of Astoria High School. He married the love of his life Angela Horner on Friday, March 20, 1987. They had two beautiful children, Aubri Ann (Blake) Scheland of Havana, IL and Mason Robert (Tristan) Blickenstaff of Astoria, IL and three beautiful grandchildren, David Oscar, Parker Reed and Adalynn Kay who brought much joy in his life.
He enjoyed spending time with his family riding side by sides and traveling on trips with Angela. One of the highlights of his life was getting to be a part of the Holy Pursuit Dream Foundation. Even while fighting cancer himself, he treasured taking kids, who were fighting the same horrible disease, on hunting trips to fulfill their wishes. One of his favorite things to do with Angela was to watch the sunrise and sunsets, God’s beautiful creations, whether they were on their patio or sitting on a beach.
Bobby is also survived by his parents Gary and Darlene Baker of Rushville, IL, four brothers, Marty (Ellen) Clemens of Pleasant Plains, IL, Jimmy Blickenstaff of Blandinsville, IL, Chris (Donna) Blickenstaff of Troy, IL and John (Beth) Baker of Browning, IL, and one sister, Lori (Kent) Walters of Fuquay-Varina, NC, father-in-law, Larry (Gloria) Horner, and sister-in-law, Kisha (Jeremy Taylor) Horner.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bob Blickenstaff, step-mother, Gladys Blickenstaff, mother-in-law, Sandra Yocum, grandparents, Vi and Jim Quesinberry, Sam and Bettie Cassel, Herb and Verna Blickenstaff, and Dick and Florence Baker.
Bobby first worked at Bollinger Welding and later L & N Industries. He was the manager at Bollinger and Onken’s Inc., later becoming Onken’s Inc. He most recently was manager at Curless Flying Services.
Bobby was a member of the Summum Christian Church, where he served as Deacon and Elder, Bader Christian Church, Astoria Lions Club, and the West Central Officials Association, where he served as Vice President. He served on the Board of Directors for Mid-Century Telephone Co-op. For over 20 years, Bobby was a licensed IHSA and IESA Official. He even officiated several IESA State Basketball Championships.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at the Summum Christian Church. Pastor Darrin Fish and Pastor Steve Castaneda will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 to 9 pm on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Summum Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Summum Christian Church, Holy Pursuit Dream Foundation or the Astoria Lions Club.
