Gayle was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. She attended Western Illinois University where she achieved her teaching degree and was a lifelong teacher who taught in Tallula, Havana, Barry, Pleasant Plains and Brimfield, Illinois. In her retirement she enjoyed getting to travel and working on her house. She was always there for someone in need.
Gayle is survived by her two sons, Mark (Jenny) Jones of Petersburg and Jeff Jones of Kinderhook; twelve grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a longtime companion of 43 years, Charles “Dewey” Swartz.
Cremation rites were accorded by Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
