Joanne M. Johns

Farmington- Joanne M. Johns, 84, of Farmington, formerly of Trivoli, passed away at 6:21 AM on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Courtyard Estates of Farmington. She was born on June 17, 1938 in Blue Island, Illinois, a daughter of Edwin T. and Anna (Maliszewski) Allison. She married Clifford D. Johns on May 23, 1959. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2016 in Canton.

Also preceding her in death are her parents, and one grandson, Matthew D. Johns.

Surviving is one son, David A. (Becky) Johns of Trivoli; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Butkus of Morrison, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

Joanne’s family moved from Chicago to the Peoria area where she was raised in Peoria and Robein, Illinois. She graduated from East Peoria High School. After high school she attended and graduated from Browns Business College. She worked as a secretary at Farmington High School, a bookkeeper at Trivoli State Bank, and a bookkeeper at Fliginger Equipment, Inc. in Trivoli, Illinois. Upon retirement, Joanne enrolled in and successfully completed the University of Illinois Master Gardener Program. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, reading books, and watching harness races. She was a member of the United States Trotting Association, and the Illinois Harness Horeseman’s Association.

As per Joanne’s wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be in the Trivoli Cemetery at a later date.
