Carl R. Simpson

Canton - Carl R. Simpson, 83, of Canton, IL passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Courtyard Estates in Canton.

He was born on February 10, 1939, in Cuba, IL to Carl M. and Kathryn (Warfield) Simpson. They preceded him in death as well as one brother Larry Simpson.
He married Patricia (O'Leary) Simpson on September 25, 1965.
Surviving are two children, Carl R. (John Reisert) Simpson, Jr. of Louisville, KY, and Kelly (Kevin) Knitter of Augusta, GA, two grandchildren, Thomas Knitter and Kristen Knitter, one sister Martha Huff, one nephew, Randy (Diana) Huff and one niece Becky (Scott) Reffett.
Carl retired from Freeman United Coal Mine in 2006. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Order of the Freemasons. Carl was an avid Illinois sports fan. He enjoyed watching all Chicago teams and University of Illinois sports. His other hobbies included skeet shooting, pheasant hunting and watching the stock market.
A graveside Masonic service and Military Honor's will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canton Park District Foundation, Veterans Memorial Fund.
