Ellisville - Joann K. Courtney, 81, of Canton, passed away, on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born on February 11, 1940, to Delbert and Nellie (Hayes) Helle. They preceded her in death.She married Larry R. Courtney on January 30, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1993. She later married Raymond Young in 2006, he also preceded her in death.
She is survived by four children, Nancy (Leo) Potts, Kathy (James) Nelson, Jesse (Veronica) Courtney, and Julie (Les) Bowles, three siblings, Maurice, Adajune and Dwight, thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Also preceding her in death are three brothers, one sister one grandchild and one great grandchild.
Joann was a homemaker and still worked on the farm. She belonged to Homemakers Extension Association for many years. She also worked for Sawmill Hydraulics in Farmington and Grant Keime in Cuba.
Joann was an active member of the Fiatt Independent Christian Church in Fiatt. She will always be remembered for her remarkable musical talent, playing the piano for many special events, funerals, and weddings. She faithfully played the piano for Fiatt Independent Christian Church for 59 years.
Due to COVID-19 health concerns a private funeral service will be held and burial will take place at Fiatt Cemetery. A Facebook live stream of the funeral service will be held on Fiatt Independent Christian Church Facebook page on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fiatt Independent Church, or to Faith Bible Camp.
