Sharon VanMiddlesworth


Canton – Sharon VanMiddlesworth, 78, of Canton, passed away at 8:10 pm, Friday, July 27, 2018 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton.  She was born on May 5, 1940 in Banner to Jesse and Verna (Williams) Ball.  Sharon married Donald “Bud” VanMiddlesworth on February 16, 1957 in Canton.  He survives along with 2 sons: Tom VanMiddlesworth and Tim (Christine) VanMiddlesworth both of Canton, brother Richard “Dick” Ball of Banner, two sisters; Nellie Westerfield of Canton and Shirley Mahr of Banner, three grandchildren; Bryan (Amanda) Wolford of Peoria, Craig (Semone Butz) VanMiddlesworth of Canton and Megan (Travis Rosich) VanMiddlesworth of Canton, six great-grandchildren; Ethan Rosich, Tannor Rosich, Koltin Rosich, Layla Jones, Alycin VanMiddlesworth and Vince VanMiddlesworth and also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Ernie Ball, Robert Ball, Gene Ball and Jack Ball, five sisters; Eilene Cyrinch, Genevive Sheets, Leona Dorsey, Lila Sheets, and Jesse Warren.

Sharon was the youngest of thirteen children.  She was always a caregiver of family and friends.  She loved and enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, cooking and garage sales.  Sharon owned and operated Ed’s Drive In Liquor Store and later worked at Chubbs Liquor Store.

After years of being a caretaker, she was cared for by her husband due to Alzheimer’s.  Her last few months she resided at Sunset Nursing Home.  Special thanks to the aides and nursing staff at Sunset and Hospice.
