Richard Lee Hammond, 47, of Dunfermline, passed away peacefully at 9:58 PM on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on January 19, 1971 in Canton, a son of Ricky and Rosemary (Horton) Hammond. He married Darlene S. Hobrock on July 30, 2009. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents, Rick (Rosemary) Hammond of Canton; his children, Sarrah M. Hammond of Davenport, Iowa; Kate L. Hammond of Canton; Amy E. Fitzjarrald of Houston, Texas; one brother, Brian J. Hammond, and his children, Miranda, Jessica, and James Hammond all of Canton; Dan (Kara) Fitzjarrald, and their children, Kate and Jack, of Canton. As well as father-in-law and mother-in- law, Bob and Janet Hobrock of Beardstown, IL., his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and thousands of friends.
Rick graduated from Canton High School in 1989, and later graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa in 1993, he worked for Springfield Electric Supply Company in East Peoria, in the Electric Distribution and Sales Department.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. Rick enjoyed life; most of all with his motto being, “Live Life”. He also enjoyed traveling to various drag strips to race his motorcycle as well as meet as many people as possible.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 North Main Street, Canton. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation. Memorials can be made to a fund being established in Rick’s memory to pay it forward as he would have to those unsuspecting, or to a charity of your choice in his name.
