Peoria – Susan Elaine Beason, 77, of Peoria, went to our Lord peacefully in the arms of her loving husband Don, Monday, February 12, 2018. Susan was born to Lee T. and Betty E. (Chapman) Clarke on October 20, 1940.
Susan a retired Methodist pastor, loved our Lord and after 25 years of suffering from metastatic breast cancer is now pain free.
Susan shared 49 years of marriage with her loving, caregiving husband Don. He was her rock.
She is survived by her husband; five children, Deana (Dennis) Dickerson, Dana Bauman, Donna (Steve) Allen, Darci (Reed) Overfelt, David (Daryll Smith) Bauman; adopted son, Bart Handley; and daughter of her heart, Jean (Marcus) Burkhead.
Susan’s grandchildren & great-grandchildren brought her so much joy. Near or far, she was always involved in their life, even if it was a call, text, or video chat. Those children are, Justin, Stacy & Tatum Bauman; Lawrence, Adriana (Rodriguez) & Max Spasojevich; Haleigh & Martin Viau; Matthew & Lauren (Diffenderfer) Dickerson; Paige Allen; Anne Burkhead; Audra Burkhead.
She is also survived by brother, David Clarke Sr., sister, Kath (Stan) Hurt.
Services will be at 5 PM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Northwest United Methodist Church in Peoria. A visitation will be held at the church from 3-5 PM. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Memorials can be made in Susan’s name to Illinois Cancer Care to be used for research of metastatic breast disease.
