Billie L. Skender

Canton – Billie L. Skender, 92, of Canton, passed away February 7, 2018 at Heartland Healthcare in Canton.
He was born on December 26, 1925 to Alex and Lillian M. (Garren) Skender. He married Diantha Whitehead on March 27, 1948 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton.  She preceded him in death on March 1, 2016.
He is survived by one son Kurt (Tina) Skender, three grandchildren, Randi (Rich) Tieperman, Derek (Terri) Skender and Alex (Leah) Skender, five great-grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Alyssa Richard “Richie” and Victoria “Tori” and three great great – grandchildren Aiden, Zachary and Elliana.
Billie first worked at international harvester for ten years; he then worked for eleven years at Midland Coal Company. In 1988 Billie retired from caterpillar after 19 years of working as a tool and dye machinist. Billie was a member of the Canton Morning Star Lodge, the Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria He was a former member of the Canton Moose Lodge, and a former member of the Canton Country Club where he loved to golf.
A Masonic service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with a funeral service to follow.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from noon to 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
Due to the weather the family requests everyone to dress casual and warm.
