Marietta–John F. Jones, 82, of Marietta, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 3:22 p.m., at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on May 16, 1935 in Rural Trivoli, to John H. and Annie H. (Keyser) Jones.
He married Alice G. (Roberson) on January 8, 1955 in Farmington.
Surviving are his wife, ten children, Dianna (Richard) Edwards, James Jones, Wesley (Teresa) Jones, John (Rita) Jones, Eugene (Kandi) Jones, Michael (Dawn) Jones, Edward (Teresa Lutz) Jones, Daniel Jones, Alice (Timothy) Smith, Heather (Lynn) Irwin, daughter in-law Carma Jones, 31 grandchildren, with one grandchild on the way, 6 step grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, 9 step great- grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son David Jones, two brothers, Richard and Roy Jones, two sisters Alice Ford and Hazel “Bernice” Schoenbein-Wells, and one great grandson.
John retired from caterpillar and last attended the Ellisville Cristian Church,. He enjoyed writing poetry and mission trips to the American Indian reservations. John was always a very giving person.
A funeral service will be held on Friday October 27, 2017 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 11 am. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family will also be having a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 11-3pm, at the Donaldson Center at Wallace Park in Canton.
Burial will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural Trivoli.
