Margaret A. "Butch" Selph
Margaret A. "Butch" Selph, age 79 of Table Grove, IL, passed away at 1:42 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in the Emergency Room at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL. She was born on February 25, 1938 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of Martin and Mary (Wilkerson) Negley. She married Dale Selph on June 1, 1956 in Abingdon, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are her son, Danny Selph of Table Grove, five grandchildren, Haily (and Jed) Rhoades of Canton, IL, Karly (and Charlie) Hite of Vermont, IL, Brandon (and Rachel) Selph of Columbus, OH, Katlyn (and Bryce) Heller of Astoria, IL, and Jordon Selph of Table Grove, eight great-grandchildren, Gaven Hite, Lexie Hite, Will Rhoades, Eli Rhoades, Emberleigh Heller, Hunter Ford, Colt Ford, and Sonya Ford, two sisters, Marelyn Kinnamon of Peoria, IL and Marjorie Cox of Macomb, IL, and one brother Dick (and Mary) Clemens of Phoenix, AZ.
Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Vaughn, her parents, her step-dad George Clemens, one great-granddaughter Amelia Ford, and one sister Martha Burns.
Margaret worked at the Table Grove Restaurant before going to McDonough District Hospital in Macomb where she was a Dietary Aide for 37 years.
She loved to shop and was a huge nature lover, especially animals, plants, and flowers.
Margaret had a special interest in British history, especially anything to do with Princess Diana or Queen Elizabeth.
Margaret loved her family deeply.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Cody Stinnett will officiate. Visitation will take place from 5-7 pm prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Fire and Rescue Squad. Cremation rites will occur following the services with interment in the Harris Cemetery at a later date.
Virginia "Ruth" Siedel
Norris – Ruth Siedel, 93, formerly of Norris, passed away at 2:10 pm, Monday, October 30, 2017 at Graham Hospital. She was born on February 26, 1924 in Ellisville to Carl D. and Beatrice E. (Williams) Mitchell. Ruth married Robert O. Siedel on November 2, 1940 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2016. Also preceding her in death were her parents, half-brother William Welker and maternal grandparents Thomas H. and Una Willie Williams that raised her.
Surviving are two children; Jack A. (Sara) Siedel of Knoxville and Sharon (Late Russell) Schrodt to Canton, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton. She served as village clerk of Norris for many years.
Services will be 11am Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be 1 hour prior to services. The Rev. Bruce Rushing will officiate. Canton – Gary “Leaky” Fawcett, 75, of Canton, passed away at 5:51 PM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on September 6, 1942 in Canton, IL to Donald and Louise (Cleer) Fawcett. He married Patricia Eddy on May 14, 1977 in Canton, IL.
Also surviving are three children, Scott (Lisa) Fawcett of Princeton, IL, Michelle Fawcett of Ipava, IL, and Steven Shutter of Ipava; one step son, Bart (Denise) McDonald of Canton, IL; one brother, Mark (Linda) Fawcett of Table Grove, IL; and one sister, Rita (Jack Browning) Hatch of Galesburg, IL; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Tina Fawcett, and step son, Rich McDonald.
Gary worked for IH/Navistar in Canton and Indianapolis for many years. He was a 50 year member of the Ipava Lodge and Mohammed Shrine in Peoria, IL, he was also a member of the Ipava Presbyterian Church, Farmington Moose Lodge, Canton American Legion, and the Canton Elks Lodge. Gary served in the United States Army.

Lewistown- Ermadean Welker, 82, of Lewistown passed away at 4:40 PM Saturday October 28, 2017 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
She was born May 28, 1935 at Cuba the daughter of Earl L. and Arizona Rachel (Kendrick) McNeil. She married Dean R. Welker September 15, 1957 at Cuba. He died November 1, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. Surviving are one son, Dennis (Janet) Welker of Lewistown, two daughters, Pam (Andrew) Stuckey of Saybrook, and Shelly (Drew) Behrens of Greenview, one brother, John R. McNeil of Canton, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Ermadean was a school bus driver 35 years for the Lewistown School District. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown and the Lewistown VFW ladies auxiliary.
Cremation will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday November 4th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Pastor Stephanie McCullough officiating. Marlene K. Long
Marlene K. Long, 83, of Canton, passed away at 10:55 AM on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on August 24, 1934 in Canton, the daughter of Clarence E. and Vivian (Clore) Berry. Marlene married the love of her life, Jim Long on February 7, 1954 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Linda James of Canton; Brad Long of Lexington, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Katelin James of Canton; Austin Long of Lexington, Kentucky, and her beloved dog, Maudie.
Marlene graduated from Canton High School then pursued her career as a Register Nurse after graduating from Graham Hospital School of Nursing, in later years she enjoyed being at home as a homemaker. She was a member of Maples Mill United Methodist Church in rural Lewistown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 North Main St, Canton, where visitation will be on Friday evening, October 27, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Emma Alberta Postin
Canton – Emma Alberta Postin, 100, of 250 South Main St. in Canton, passed away at 8:20 am, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton. She was born on October 29, 1916 in Trivoli, IL. to Robert and Emma (Oaks) Severt.
Surviving are two children; Linda “Katie” Postin of Canton and Larry “Doc” Postin of Maquon, one sister Verna Mae Porter of Canton, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Russell Severt, and three sisters; Dorothy Harrison, Lois Lingenfelter, and Velma Urly.
A woman of faith and the heart of her family, she loved caring for those closest to her. She was a loving sister and doting mother…a precious grandmother and great-grandmother…a dear friend and neighbor. A consummate homemaker and care giver, Alberta worked as a custodian for the Yates City School District and at Brown’s Snappy Service CafĂ© in Canton for many years. Also, up until the age of 85, she worked as a Home Maker for Lutheran Social Services, providing home maker services for the “elderly” in the area! She attended Covenant Community Church in Canton and was a member of the Rebekah’s.
It’s comforting to know that Alberta has had a long and full life. Now her work here is done. She received a call, an offer you can’t refuse, that comes with a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Where she will be socializing, dancing and reading to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including the staff and residents at Maple Manor in Canton, Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton, Graham Hospital in Canton and Help At Home.
The family will receive friends during a special Celebration of Life on what would have been her 101st birthday, from 2-4 pm, Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Maple Manor Community Room, 250 South Main Street in Canton. John Jones
Marietta–John F. Jones, 82, of Marietta, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 3:22 p.m., at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on May 16, 1935 in Rural Trivoli, to John H. and Annie H. (Keyser) Jones.
He married Alice G. (Roberson) on January 8, 1955 in Farmington.
Surviving are his wife, ten children, Dianna (Richard) Edwards, James Jones, Wesley (Teresa) Jones, John (Rita) Jones, Eugene (Kandi) Jones, Michael (Dawn) Jones, Edward (Teresa Lutz) Jones, Daniel Jones, Alice (Timothy) Smith, Heather (Lynn) Irwin, daughter in-law Carma Jones, 31 grandchildren, with one grandchild on the way, 6 step grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, 9 step great- grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son David Jones, two brothers, Richard and Roy Jones, two sisters Alice Ford and Hazel “Bernice” Schoenbein-Wells, and one great grandson.
John retired from caterpillar and last attended the Ellisville Cristian Church,. He enjoyed writing poetry and mission trips to the American Indian reservations. John was always a very giving person.
A funeral service will be held on Friday October 27, 2017 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 11 am. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family will also be having a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 11-3pm, at the Donaldson Center at Wallace Park in Canton.
Burial will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural Trivoli.

She was born on April 30, 1944 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Evalyn (Roland) Pratt. She married Ralph Matheny on June 14, 1980 in Astoria. He survives.

Marianne was an Insurance Broker for France Insurance Agency in Astoria, IL.
She was a member of the Ipava Order of the Eastern Star #226 where she was a Past Worthy Matron and Lecturer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Eastern Star services will be held at 8 pm, followed by a memorial service. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. Memorials may be given to the Ipava Order of the Eastern Star #226.

John M. McCance, 68, of Cuba, IL, died Friday, October 20th, 2017, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
Born August 7, 1949, in Canton, IL, John was raised in Smithfield, IL. He was the youngest son of Dale and Mary (Grigsby), who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Dale McCance.
Surviving John are his wife of 47 years, Sue (Keene); their four children, Heather (Mike) Patterson of Cuba, IL, Nathan McCance of Chicago, IL, Annie McCance (Jess Luther) of St. Louis, MO, and Katie (Dylan) Reimer of Avon, CO; six grandchildren, Caitlin, Abbey, Brooklynn, Morgan, Ellie, and Maddie Patterson; and Linda McCracken-Shaver of Wilcox, AZ, K. Sue (David) Roberts of Cuba, IL, Arlene (Harold) Ford of Geneseo, IL, Darlene English Thurman of Macomb, IL, and Robert (Sherry) McCance of Marietta, IL.
John graduated from Cuba High School in 1967, then from Canton Community College before earning a Bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University where he majored in Art/English Education.
Working his way through college, John was employed at Day & Palin grocery store in Cuba. He then began his teaching career at Lewistown Central School; he also worked in the Cuba and Avon, IL, school districts. In 1978, John returned to Day & Palin and remained there until 1994, when he was hired to teach in the Roseville School District. In 2012, he retired following 17 years teaching art at Ingersoll Middle in the Canton Union School District #66.
John’s skill and enthusiasm for teaching was matched by his passion for coaching youth sports. Over the years, he coached track and basketball at Roseville Elementary, basketball at Canton High, and track at Ingersoll, providing guidance and leadership to dozens of young athletes. Most recently, John led the 2016-2017 Cuba Middle School 7th Grade Lady Cardinals to the Elite Eight in the IESA tournament.
Painting was John’s gift; he won multiple Best in Show awards in and around Fulton County. One could also frequently find John away from his easel and up on a ladder, painting innumerable houses in the area. He loved making art, finishing a daily crossword puzzle, reading, and listening to music. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba. Burial will be in Fiatt Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5-7 PM at the memorial home. Patricia Sue Harper
Canton – Patricia Sue Harper, 67, of Canton passed away at 3:00 pm Friday, October 20, 2017 at her residence. She was born on December 24, 1949 in Canton to James F. Harper. Surviving is her sister Cheryle (Late Bobby) Mathis of St. David, two nephews, one niece, two great nephews, and two great nieces. Patricia was preceded in death by her father and brother Michael (Late Ella) Harper.
Patricia graduated from the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville. She worked at Caterpillar and later at the Fulton County Rehabilitation Center in Canton, which she retired from in 2016.

Jean H. Downs
Cuba – Jean H. Downs of Cuba passed away at 1:19 p.m., on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on December 28, 1926, in Pekin, to Ralph and Ethel (Peterson) Hensley. Jean married George Downs on June 3, 1945, in Canton. He preceded her in death in May 1978.
Jean is survived by three children, Dan (Ginny) Downs of Washburn, Marty (Patti) Downs of Lewistown, and Angie (Downs) Taylor of Canton; four grandchildren, Chris (Kerri) Downs, Brian (Jennifer) Downs, Anna Taylor and Nicholas Taylor; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Fanning.
Jean owned the Gamble’s Store with her husband, George, in Cuba for 25 years. She also taught at FCRC (Fulton County Rehabilitation Center) for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Canton and a past member of the Sweet Adeline’s and the Cuba Women’s Club. She also enjoyed playing bingo, piano, flea marketing, and attending the Spoon River Drive where she and her sister set up their own antique booth.
Services will be 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at St. Peter’s Anglican Church. A burial will follow the service at Cuba Cemetery. Doris L. Ridgeway
Cuba - Doris Lucille Ridgeway, 92, of Cuba, passed away October 20, 2017, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born on May 13, 1925, in New Philadelphia to Ralph and Minnie (Lance) Vance.
She married Eugene Ridgeway in Lewistown in 1944. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; her son, John Ridgeway Sr.; brothers Edward Vance and Jerold Vance; and sister Norma Crouch.
She is survived by daughters Beverly Brown of Cuba (with whom she made her home), and Judy (Gregory) LePine of Peoria; daughter-in-law Kathy Ridgeway of Cuba; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Suzanne (Will) Cable of Folsom, CA.; and several nieces and nephews.
Doris graduated from Cuba High School in 1942. After working more than 45 years as a telephone operator, she retired in 1986 from AT&T, Peoria. She was a lifelong member of the Cuba Christian Church.
Doris’ final wishes were to have a private graveside service for family only. Her final wishes for her friends and all others who knew her were to remember her as she was and to know how she truly treasured those friendships.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to any Alzheimer’s organization or the Cass-Putman Rescue Squad.

Canton – Robert “Bob” Farrar, 68, of Canton, passed away at 2:05 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in Canton, IL. He was born on February 23, 1949 in Macomb, IL to Robert and Anna (Hackman) Farrar.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Surviving is Bob’s extended family, Cindy Davison, Shauna Windsor, Jamie Davison, and his grandson Jaxon Robert Davison, whom he was very proud of.
Bob worked at Farm King in Canton, IL. He loved fishing, golfing, building bird feeders, and watching eagles. Bob was a member of Hummingbird Association.

Rosa Lee Burgard, 86, of Havana, IL, passed away at 12:23 pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton, IL. She was born on April 12, 1931 in Adair, IL, the daughter of Elzie and Bessie (Gardner) Danner. Rosa Lee married Lester E. Burgard on August 27, 1949 in Astoria, IL. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2017.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, 2 brothers, Harold and Ronald Danner and 1 sister, Elizabeth Basinger.
Survivors include her 3 sons, Jerry Burgard of Havana, Lyle (and Pamela) Burgard of Browning, IL and Rev. Rick (and Cathy) Burgard of Havana, 2 daughters, Sheila (and Gary) Sloter of Astoria and Loretta (and Rev. Bob) Mansfield of Warsaw, IN, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Rosa Lee was a Pastor’s wife for over 68 years.
She was a member of Havana Church of the Nazarene in Havana. She liked to crochet, sew, play the piano, and garden. She enjoyed her grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Havana Church of the Nazarene in Havana. Pastor Rick Burgard and Pastor Bob Mansfield will be officiating. Rose Centers
Canton – Rose J. Centers, 94, of Canton, passed away at 2:41 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Red Oak Estates in Canton, IL. She was born on April 21, 1923 in Fiatt, IL to John and Maria (Forneris) Vigna. She married Charles Greg Centers in September of 1948. He preceded her in death in September of 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother Anthony Vigna, and two sisters, Mary Flynn and Antionette McCann.
Surviving is one sister, Dorothy Francis of Canton and four nephews.
Rose graduated from Cuba High School and furthered her education at Western Illinois University where she received her bachelors in teaching. Rose retired after 40 years as a teacher in one room country schools in the Fiatt, Fairview, and Ellisville areas completing her teaching career in the Canton School District at Lincoln School. Cuba – Brian Telander, 78, of Cuba, passed away at 7:50 am Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton. He was born on September 28, 1939 in Peoria to Fredrick and Edith (McNaught) Telander. Brian married Marilyn Higgs on August 5, 1961 in Princeville. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2011. Also preceding in death were his parents. Surviving are two children; Mark (Jackie) Telander of Galesburg and Beth (Ralph) Simpson of Fiatt, one brother Rick Telander of Pekin, three grandchildren; Dalton Simpson of Avon, Tyler Telander of Normal, and Dylan Simpson of London Mills, and two brother-in-law’s; Dr. Richard Higgs of Las Cruses, N.M. and Donald (Margie) Higgs of Rochelle.
Brian graduated from Princeville High School in 1957, University of Illinois in 1961 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture Education and a Masters of Education in 1967. He was the Vocational Agricultural teacher at Downs Ellsworth High School from 1961-1963, then taught at Chandlerville High School from 1963-1967 as the Vocational Agriculture and Biology teacher until moving on to teach at Spoon River College in the Diesel and Power Systems Technology until retiring in 1998 after 31 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he has served as a Deacon and Elder and was the current Treasurer. Brian has been involved with East Elm Apartments for 36 years serving as the President and then Director and was currently the Business Manager. He was awarded in 2015 the Site Manager of the Year in Illinois.
Visitation will be 2- 5 pm, Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Marcella Lee Zaborac
Marcella Lee Zaborac, 97, died Monday, July 17, 2017. She was born on February 6, 1920 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Oscar and Nina Baysinger Rector. She graduated in 1926 from Follett High School in Follett, Texas. After graduating from Lubbock Sanitarium School of Nursing in 1940, Marcella worked as a RN at the Shattuck Hospital.
She enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps on November 24, 1942 and was assigned to the 110th Evacuation Hospital. After field training in California and Washington, her unit was shipped to England to prepare for the invasion of Europe. Assigned to General George Patton’s 3rd Army, she came ashore in Normandy on August 25, 1944. During her 15 months overseas, Marcie, as she was known to her friends, served in Army hospitals in France and Luxembourg. Returning to the United States, she was discharged from active duty on January 13, 1946.
On January 22, 1944, Marcella married John F. Zaborac in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. To this marriage were born three children; John, Jr., Charles Jerome (Jerry) and Melissa. The family lived in Cuba, Illinois and later on the farm in Farmington, Illinois. After retirement, she and John lived in Canton, Illinois and Englewood, Florida. Marcella was a registered nurse for more than 40 years.

Lewistown- Lillie Frances Vaughn, 96, of Lewistown passed away at 8:40 PM Sunday October 15, 2017 at Graham Hospital extended care in Canton.
She was born January 18, 1921 at Lewistown the daughter of Marshall and Margaret (Wilhelm) Arnett. She married Harold G. Vaughn on May 8, 1946 at Ipava. He died January 17, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters. Surviving are one son, Mike (the late Sue) Vaughn of Ipava, one daughter, Judith (Lon) VanMiddlesworth of Canton, one sister, Nelda Jo Cooper of Lewistown, four grandchildren, Kelly VanMiddlesworth of Canton, Lonnie (Marie) VanMiddlesworth of Springfield, Jenni (Troy) Hopping of Ipava, and Bryan (Megan) Vaughn of Industry, and four great grandchildren, Cody and Kayla Wilcoxen of Canton, Miranda (Skyler) Taylor of Colchester, and Wade Hopping of Ipava.
Frances was a homemaker and had worked at the former Clarytona Manor in Lewistown for several years. She was of the Methodist Faith. She enjoyed bingo, bunco, and taking bus trips.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor Shane Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown. Canton – Anna Mae (Johnson) Dare, 90, of Canton, passed away at 2:43 PM on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Red Oak Estates in Canton, where she was a resident. She was born on the family farm on April 3, 1927 in Canton to Joseph M. and Mildred L. (Rohrer) Johnson. She married Harold J. Dare on April 11, 1948 in Canton, IL. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2007.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, one brother, George R. Johnson, and one sister, Lois Mechling.
Surviving are two children, Henry J. (Cheryl) Dare of Canton, and Janice Bruster of Canton; three grandchildren, Greg (Samantha) Dare of Pekin, Phillip (Kris) Dare of Canton, and Mark Bruster of Peoria; two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Madison Dare; and two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emma Hayes; and one brother, Joseph Allen Johnson of Wichita, KS.
Anna Mae enjoyed raising two children and being a farmer’s wife. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and Wesley UMW in Canton, former member of Fulton County Farm Bureau, and Fulton County Couples Club.

Canton-Barbara Elaine Lewis, 78, formerly of Farmington and Yates City, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the OSF Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on October 30, 1938, in Lewistown to Leo and Edith (Hadsell) Roberts. They preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death is her husband, Bill “Bumper” Lewis and brother, James Roberts.
Surviving are her children, William Fred (Patricia) Lewis of Vernon Hills, Rodney (Karla) Lewis of Yates City, Lee Lewis of Keithsburg, brother, David Roberts of Creve Coeur, sister Betty Rein of FL, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Barbara was a member of the Elmwood Baptist Church. She worked as a nurse’s aid and also in private home health care.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the Elmwood Baptist Church, with a visitation one hour prior at the church.
Burial will be at the Apple Cemetery in rural Lewistown.

Fairview – Maxine E. Hartstirn, 97, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at the Red Oak Memory Care in Canton.
She was born on October 29, 1919, in Fiatt to Floyd and Ruby (Doughtery) Tompkins. They preceded her in death.
She married Robert F. Hartstirn on August 18, 1940 in Fairview. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2002.
Also preceding her in death are two sons, Robert A. Hartstirn and Albert “Skip” Hartstirn, son-in-law, George Kreider, brothers, Harold, Hobart and infant brother, Meredith and sister Valeria Sheets.
Surviving are her children, Sharron Kreider of Ashkum, IL, JoAnn (David) Andersen of South Holland, IL, Randy (Vicki) Hartstirn of Canton, daughter-in-law, Karen Hartstirn of Pinckneyville, fourteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Maxine was a past member of the Fairview Reformed Church and currently a member of Fiatt Independent Christian Church. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Fairview Chapter #99, Fairview Women’s Club and Gideon’s International.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 5-8 pm, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a funeral service at 10 am, on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Fiatt Independent Christian Church.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery.

Smithfield- Ghlee F. Herrick, 96, of Smithfield, passed away at 5:05 PM Thursday October 12, 2017 at Heartland Health Care in Canton.
He was born September 30, 1921 at Smithfield, the son of Rueben and Catherine (Orwig) Herrick. He married Ruth Hallman and they had two children, Robert and Ruth Ann. He later married Gladys Morse on September 30, 1946. He later married Beatrice Seymore, and she preceded him in death on May 30, 1996. Survivors include seven children, David (Debbie) Herrick of Smithfield, Linda Payne of Salina, KS; Gale (Betty) Herrick of Cuba, Wanda (Marc) Boyer of Smithfield, Richard (Karen) Herrick of Winfield, IA; Marsha Herrick of Bushnell, and JR Herrick of Donnellson, IA; 21 grandchildren with one on the way, 25 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Cheryl Lynn Herrick and Dennis Herrick, and eight siblings.
Ghlee worked as a farmer, a janitor at several school districts, and had been a machinist at a factory in Ipava. He was a WW 2 Navy veteran and a member of the Cuba American Legion. He was a member of Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield. He had served as Cass Twp. Road Commissioner for 6 ½ years, and was an avid gardener.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba, with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Liverpool – Sherrill R. Wilcoxen, 79, of Liverpool passed away at 5:47 am, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton. She was born August 19, 1938 in Canton to George “Frankie” and Clarice (Johnson) Harris. Sherrill married Floyd “Willie” Wilcoxen on June 3, 1994 in Liverpool. He survives along with two daughters; Robin (Late Don) Hibbetts and Lori (Ed) Knowles both of Liverpool, three grandchildren; Andrew Edwards, Hilary Edwards, and Dustin Knowles, and a great-granddaughter Makayla Keime.

David Bishop, 75, of Canton passed away on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born on August 9, 1942 in Canton to Dennis and Harriett (Campbell) Bishop, who preceded him in death.
He married Mary Louise (Bunch) Bishop on March 29, 1969 in Cuba.
Surviving are his wife, children, Erin Bishop of Nashville and Damon L. (Nancy) Bishop of San Antonio, and step-grandchildren, Anthony and Donovan; one twin brother, Ben (Kay) Bishop, nephew Derron Bishop (Charity) and niece Renée Bishop-Koch and son Campbell; sister-in-law Sharon (Mike) Bishop, niece Star (Aaron) Norton and children Maggie and Cole.

David was a passionate advocate of the arts – a community theater director and actor, a Fulton County Arts Council founder, and a master of many ceremonies. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton where he sang in the choir. David was a also member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Consistory and IEA/NEA.
A Masonic service will be held at 2 pm on Friday October 13, 2017, followed by a Celebration of Life, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton; the Reverend Bruce Rushing will officiate. A private burial will be held at Cuba Cemetery.

LEWISTOWN- George L. Bonney, 72, of Lewistown, passed away at 4:15 PM on Monday, October 9, 2017 at his residence. He was born on November 6, 1944 in Canton, a son of Paul and Helen (Rohrer) Bonney. He married the love of his life, Sandra Johnson on July 5, 1964 in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin (Leigh Ann) Bonney of Lewistown; Scott (Tammy) Bonney of Canton, and three grandsons, Tyler, Adam, and Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Alice Fawcett.
George was a self-employed farmer for many years, a member of Pork Producers, and several Cattle Breed Associations, member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, he was the East Liverpool Drainage Commissioner, a mason of the Masonic Lodge in Cuba, and an avid Chicago Bears Fan. He loved farming and watching his sons and grandsons show livestock in the 4-H shows.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory in Canton, where Masonic rites will be at 7:00 PM. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Fulton County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund. Mildred L. Owings
Lewistown- Mildred L. Owings, 89, of Du Quoin, IL; and formerly of Lewistown, passed away at 12:35 AM Saturday October 7, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL.
She was born July 23, 1928 at Canton, the daughter of Daniel and Vera (Smith) Perkins. She married Ray B. Owings on May 14, 1956 at Havana. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Philip Hopping and Danny Owings, and one grandson, Bradley Owings. Survivors include two children, Brian (Shawna) Owings of Du Quoin, IL; and Diana (Ed) Emig of Lewistown, five grandchildren, Erica White, Richie Owings, Stacie Dunihoo, Savana Casey, and Nicole Perrin, and eight great grandchildren, Jackson White, Campbell White, Reagan White, Alizabeth Owings, Alivia Owings, Parker Casey, Tessa Casey, and Kolton Perrin.
Mildred was a Lewistown High School graduate Class of 1945. She worked as a bookkeeper at the former Black Chevrolet Dealership in Lewistown, and also as a bookkeeper at a car dealership in southern Illinois.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor Penny Frame officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s. Canton – David L. Roseboom, 57, of Canton passed away at 1pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at his residence. He was born on July 5, 1960 in Canton to Frank and Charlotte (Bain) Roseboom. He married Janice Ford on May 20, 1998 in Lewistown. She survives along with his parents Frank and Charlotte Roseboom of Canyon Lake, TX, two sisters; Cinda Baxter of Canyon Lake, TX, and Sonya Forsythe of Dunlap, and two nieces; Haley, and Addison.

Joyce Dworak
Canton- Joyce Dworak, 74, of Canton, passed away Wednesday October 4, 2017 in Canton.
She was born December 5, 1942 in Charleston West Virginia to Harold and Winifred (Mayhew) Youngblood, they proceeded her in death.
She married Darren J. Dworak on July 17, 1965 in Canton, he preceded her in death on June 30, 2017.
Surviving are her daughters, Angie Holthaus of Canton, and Renee Dworak of Waynesville Illinois, one brother Harold (Carmin) Youngblood and two grandchildren Matthew and Mia.
Joyce worked for the Graham Health System for 51 years retiring in 2016, Joyce graduated from the 1st Nurse Practitioner class from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. she was passionate for her children and grandchildren and never missed any activities they were involved in. She also loved to shop for her children and grandchildren She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton where she was once the parish nurse. Joyce and Darren enjoyed racing horses together for their entire life together.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 10, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, visitation will be held Monday October 9, 2017 at Oaks Hines Funeral home in Canton from 5 until 7 pm, a rosary service will be held Monday night at the funeral home at 7 pm.

Gerald R. “Jerry” Foreman Sr.
Canton – Gerald R. Foreman Sr, 79, of Canton passed away at 11:26 pm Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born on July 12, 1938 in Toulon, IL. to Delmas Ray and Mildred Lucille (Hegwood) Foreman I. Gerald married Ivy Joan Freitas on September 9, 1959. Surviving are three children; Brandy (Harry) Walters, Gerald R. (Renae) Foreman Jr, and Delmas (Joanna) Foreman II all of Canton, five grandchildren; Jacob, Marisa, Madison, Zachary, and Emily, two sisters; Barbara Rosencrans of St. David, and Priscella Anderson of Norris. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters; June Downard, and Linda Ashwood.
Jerry was a Marine serving in the military from July 15, 1955 to December 15, 1972 serving 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was the VFW Post 1984 Commander for 21 years, State of Illinois VFW Member of the Year in 2012-2013. Jerry retired from the Canton Police Department after working for 13 years, Owner/Operator of Videos Unlimited, Co-founder of Crime Stoppers, 1993 Canton Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, and supporter of POW/MIA.
Jerry dedicated his life to helping serve others and was a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
Celebration of Life Dinner will be 5-8 pm, Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Canton VFW. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Donald "D.J." West
Lewistown – Donald D.J. West, 45, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
He was born on July 16, 1972, in Canton, to James “Jim” and Darlene (Mathis) West. They preceded him in death along with his daughter, Katelyn West and a brother, Jim West.
Surviving are his children, Kody West, Austin West, Hunter West, brothers, Billy (Evelyn) west of St. David, Randy West of Lincoln, sisters, Sheila Gray of Lewistown, Sherry (Dennis) Freesmeyer of Winchester and grandchildren, Braxton, Bailey, Oliver and Gracelyn.
D.J. worked in Security and was a volunteer for the Buckheart Fire Department, Copperas Creek Fire Department and the Woodson Fire Department.
A visitation will be held Friday October 6, 2017, from 5-7pm, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with a funeral service on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11 am, at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery

Jesse “Jute” Chambers
Lewistown- Jesse “Jute” Chambers Jr; 90, of Lewistown, passed away at 11:45 PM Monday October 2, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born March 13, 1927 at rural Delmont, South Dakota, the son of Jesse and Bertha (White) Chambers. He married Wanda Barker in February 1950 at Lewistown.. She survives with three children, Don (Betty) Chasteen of Elmhurst, Tate (Cathy) Chambers of Morton, and Lori (Linda Branton) Chambers of Lewistown, nine grandchildren, Nicole (Brad) Hardesty, Andrea (Mike) Tromp, Katie Chambers, Jeff (Erin) Chambers, Jessica (Dr. Dan) Bunzol, Sarah Tate Chambers, Jason (Lindsey) Ellison, and Shawn Ellison, nine great grandchildren, and one sister, Ruby Dean of New Lenox. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Jute was a star basketball player in high school and turned down an offer to play basketball at Bradley University to join the Army at the end of WW 2.
Jute retired from the Illinois Power plant in Havana. He had also owned and operated several local businesses for over 50 years. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Lewistown American Legion. He was also a member of the Crossroads Methodist Church in Lewistown, the Alligators Club, and Ameren Retirees Club. He had been involves with various youth activities, and was an avid Cubs fan.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Crossroads Methodist Church in Lewistown, with Reverend Larry Wright officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 PM at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Methodist Church. Peoria – Kevin L. Bills, 58, of Peoria, passed away at 2:53 PM on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on March 11, 1959 in Red Bud, IL to Billy and Clara Jo (Reinhardt) Bills.
Surviving is his father, Billy Bills; three children, Stacy Bills-Werry of Canton, Christopher Bills of Peoria, and Rosalie Bills of Canton; five grandchildren; one brother, William J. Bills of N.C.; step-mother, Norma Bills; step-sister, Shonna Bates of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Jo (Reinhardt) Bills, and his sister, Robin L. Wefenstette.
Kevin loved stock car races, photography, making clocks, and fishing.
Kevin was a veteran in the United States Army.

Rev. Ralph Hill
Rev. Ralph A. Hill, 79, of Canton passed away Saturday September 30, 2017 at his residence.
He was born April 15, 1938 in Seymour Indiana. The son of Clyde and Irma Hill.
He married Charity (Rodefer) Hill on August 11, 1962 in Malden, Illinois they were married for 50 years. She preceded him in death in 2013.
They raised two children David Hill and Jolie (Mike) Shaw both of Canton and both survive along with four grandchildren, Grant (Chelsea) Shaw, April (Steven) Snider, Ethan Shaw, and Dennis Ledbetter. One brother Bob (Janet) Hill of Columbus Indiana, two sisters Connie (Jude) Richardson of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania and LuAnn (Gordon) Barker of Edinburg, Indiana.
Preceding Ralph in death were his parents and two brothers, Scott and Doug Hill.
Ralph graduated from Olivet Nazarene University and The Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, he worked in pastoral ministry for the Church of The Nazarene for 35 years with over 13 years being in Canton. He was also a Chaplin at O.S.F. Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for 10 years, retiring in 2010. Ralph loved people and his minister’s heart found ways to minister and care for family and friends right up to his eternal homecoming. He knew no strangers and touched many lives.
He loved and was very proud of his family and cherished time spent with them. He also loved fishing and going to Little Giant Football games. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, pastor and friend.
Ralph was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Canton where a funeral service will be held on, Friday October 6, 2017 at 11 am. The Reverend Dennis Owens will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday October 5, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, and again on Friday morning from 10 am until time of the service at his church.
Burial will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made out to his church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

She was born on February 14, 1937 in Senath MO to Truman and Levertia (Sandefer) Randl,
She married Clifton Crowell, he proceeded her in death
She is survived by five children, Pat (Ken) Billington, Dan (Kandi Promisson) Crowell, David (Lynn) Crowell, Laurie (Everett Yerbic) Crowell and Tim (Donna) Crowell of Tennesee, one brother Larry (Linda) Randl, two sisters Joyce (The Late Kenny) Crowell, Carolyn (Gary) Dannison, fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great – grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents and one brother Bill (Janie) Randl. .
Margaret enjoyed baking, arts and crafts, playing cards and dominos.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 10 am until 12 noon at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.
Burial will be held immediately following the visitation at Bushnell Cemetery.

Sally J. Barnett, 72 of Canton, passed away at 11:20 PM on Friday, September 29, 2017 at her residence. She was born on December 30, 1944 in Peoria, a daughter of Raymond and Helen (Boughan) Finley. She married the love of her life Harold Barnett on October 19, 1963 in Canton. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, William Barnett, Sonja (Barnett- Baker) Strubbe, Annette (Blake) Myers and Douglas Barnett all of Canton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one sister Vicki Daily of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Harold Barnett Jr.; three grandchildren and one sister, Joan Turley.
Sally graduated Canton High School, was a homemaker, and was of the Nazarene Faith, she enjoyed traveling and fishing, was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan, and she loved to be near her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
