Melba L. Hootman
Canton – Melba L. Hootman, 99 of Canton, passed away at Clayberg Nursing Home on Thursday, May 4, 2017. She was born on October 6, 1917 in Pekin to James and Pearl (Boswell) Davis. She married Jesse Hootman on March 3, 1934 in Pekin, IL. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1984.
Surviving are two children, Jim (Irma Lee) Hootman of Cuba, Becky Hootman Christian of Canton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Melba was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, William Hootman, one brother and one sister.
Melba was a very loving mother and was known as the best cook in the world! She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton, and a member of the Tusitalis Class of the First Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM. Rev. Monroe Bailey will officiate.
