Garnette May Dunning

Canton – Garnette May Dunning, 87, of Canton, passed away at 7:46 PM on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her residence. She was born on June 24, 1929 in East Peoria to Edward and Edna (Wheeler) Potts. She married Robert L. Dunning Sr. on July 5, 1947 in Canton, IL, he preceded her in death on March 10, 1998.

Also preceding her in death are her parents, Edward and Edna; step father, Carl Gittermann; one brother, Paul Potts; and one sister, Opal West.

Surviving are three children, Robert (Late Ginger) Dunning Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Pamela Dunning of Canton, and John (Terri) Dunning of St. David; two grandsons, Cary Churchill and James Churchill; one great-grandson, Ivan Churchill; and one sister, Ruby Pollitt of Canton.

Garnette worked at the nursing center of Canton years ago. She is a member of His River of Life in Liverpool and a 50 year member of the Moose.

Services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where a visitation will be held from 12-1 PM. Rev. Sheldon Westerfield will officiate.
