Canton – John Junior Voorhees, 89, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, February 11, at his residence in Dunlap, IL. John was born on November 7, 1927 in Canton, IL, the son of John and Viola ( Miller ) Voorhees. He married Helen Zeglen on December 28, 1951 in Farmington, IL, she preceded in death in 2014.
Surviving are two sons; Jay Voorhees of Dunlap, IL, David ( Catherine ) Voorhees of Lewes, DE; four grandchildren; Renee, Danel, Marien and John.
Also preceding him in death are two sisters.
John worked for International Harvester as a millwright for 33 years and retired in 1981. He was also a veteran for the United States Army in World War II stationed in the Philippines.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, February 15, at Foster Cemetery, rural Fairview, IL, where a visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 N.
