Canton- Gatha “Janie” (Lightle) Boggs, 66, of Canton, passed away at 4:30 AM Wednesday January 20, 2016 in the arms of her daughter at Graham Hospital.
She was born January 25, 1949 at Canton, the daughter of Jimmie Lee and Milola (Laflex) Lightle Sr. Survivors include three children, Tony (Stacey) Newton of Canton, Joey (Ronda) Boggs of Farmington, and Laura Thomas Spahn of Canton, 14 grandchildren, Nathan, Cody, Dakotah, Hannah, Allisyn, Natasha, Marriah, Jessica, Trista, Joey II, Michael (Courtney), Kara (Arty), Christopher Jr; and Sierra, seven great grandchildren, one brother, Charles “Chuck” (Katelyn) Lightle of Chattanooga, TN; and a special friend for 21 years, Aaron Stockman, and one step son, Aaron Shane Stockman. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jimmie Lee Lightle Jr; and one step son, Stephen Paul Thomas.
Janie was a stay at home mother, and had worked as a waitress and also as a nurse’s aide. She had battled cancer for 43 years. She enjoyed crocheting, as well as spending time with the grandkids and great grandkids, and was an avid Christmas lover.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Reverend Monroe Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services and burial will be in Baughman Cemetery at rural Smithfield.
