Canton- Donald R. Sill Sr., 91, of Canton and formerly of Lewistown passed away at 3:00 AM Friday January 15, 2016 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born January 7, 1925 at rural Bryant the son of Jasper and Marie (Hinderliter) Sill. He married Mary Toomer on August 9, 1947 at Lewistown. She survives. Also surviving are three children, Vonnie Aldrich of Canton, Donald R. (Sarah) Sill Jr. of Pekin, and Kendall (Linda) Sill of Smithfield, seven grandchildren, Timothy Gibbons, Stacy (Dale) Robertson, Chris (Veronica) Roper, Donald Sill III, Shawna Vetter, Laura Sill, and Sarah Sill, 12 great grandchildren, and one sister, Maralee Shriver of Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Kenneth Allen Sill, and one brother, Robert Sill.
Donald was a lifelong farmer. He also drove a school bus for Lewistown School District. He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, the Tribal Modern Square Dance Club and the Road Runners Camping Club. He was a former member of the Canton Moose Lodge, the Lewistown Township Board, and had been a director at Spoon River Electric.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday January 19th at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Father Rob Goebel officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Monday January 18th at the memorial home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital of Peoria.
